Role overview

Indra is seeking a Technical Programme Integration Manager for major Transport for London revenue collection programmes, including Oyster and Contactless.

The role leads technical integration across programme mobilisation, delivery, operational transition, and handover.

The position aligns architecture, engineering, procurement, suppliers, commercial activity, governance, and operational readiness.

About the project

Indra will operate, develop, enhance, and expand TfL ticketing and access control systems through 2034, with extension options to 2039.

The ecosystem includes turnstiles, validators, ticket machines, sales terminals, back-office systems, payment gateways, IT infrastructure, and cybersecurity.

The programme supports a large transport network serving more than 8.6 million daily journeys.

Key duties

  • Shape the end-to-end technical delivery strategy for major technology programmes.
  • Coordinate dependencies across workstreams and ensure outputs from one workstream are usable by another.
  • Lead resolution of complex technical delivery challenges with architects, engineers, and specialists.
  • Identify risks, challenge assumptions, and advise programme leadership on technical and delivery decisions.
  • Ensure technical changes meet contractual requirements and pass relevant TfL governance forums.
  • Establish and improve the technical delivery model for safe changes to TfL revenue collection systems.

Engineering integration

  • Define and validate the programme engineering lifecycle covering source code, configuration, intellectual property, builds, environments, testing, deployment, and service management.
  • Guide development environments, engineering tooling, build pipelines, and supporting delivery processes.
  • Integrate technical knowledge capture with programme delivery.
  • Establish the processes, environments, tooling, and governance needed to maintain and enhance the platform.
  • Provide strategic technical oversight so delivery remains achievable, sound, and operationally ready.

Required skills and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience delivering large-scale technology transformation, systems integration, or complex technology programmes.
  • Experience across mobilisation, delivery, operational transition, and service handover.
  • Experience in multi-supplier and outsourced delivery environments, including technical or supplier transition programmes.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, systems integration, build, testing, release, and deployment.
  • Ability to translate architecture and business requirements into executable strategies and plans.

Professional capabilities

  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills across executives, suppliers, business leaders, and technical teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including dependency identification and ambiguity management.
  • Ability to work within governance-driven environments and comply with technical, operational, and organisational standards.
  • Ability to balance technical, operational, commercial, and delivery considerations using structured judgement.
  • Desirable domain experience includes transport, revenue collection, safety-critical systems, third-party interface testing, PCI, security, or regulatory programmes.

Benefits

  • The role offers 25 days of holiday plus 8 bank holidays, with options to buy or sell days.
  • Benefits include a 35-hour working week, pension contributions, private medical insurance, life assurance, and income protection.
  • Flexible or remote working options, learning and development, employee assistance, charitable initiatives, and social events are offered.
