Role Overview

The Technical Office Engineer coordinates the technical aspects of construction projects to ensure designs, drawings, and specifications are implemented accurately and efficiently.

The role links site teams, design consultants, subcontractors, procurement, and management to support delivery on time, within budget, and in compliance with standards.

Contracts and Agreements

  • Prepare, review, and interpret main contracts and subcontract agreements according to project contractual terms.
  • Analyze contractual clauses, identify potential risks, and propose mitigation actions.
  • Prepare, manage, and follow up on claims, variation orders, and contractual correspondence.

Scheduling and Planning

  • Develop and update detailed project schedules using Primavera or MS Project.
  • Monitor progress, evaluate delays, and prepare recovery and mitigation plans.
  • Prepare periodic progress reports comparing actual progress with planned schedules.

Subcontractor Management

  • Identify and evaluate qualified subcontractors and review their technical and financial proposals.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and compliance with project timelines and quality standards.
  • Prepare, review, and validate subcontractor payments and work progress statements.

Technical Coordination

  • Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, and bills of quantities.
  • Ensure alignment between design documents, project specifications, and site execution.
  • Coordinate with procurement, design, and site teams to ensure a smooth workflow.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Prepare regular technical and administrative reports for senior management.
  • Attend progress and technical coordination meetings with consultants and clients.
  • Maintain organized documentation and ensure traceability of project records.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, architectural, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
  • Registered and certified MMUP/UPDA Engineer.
  • 10–15 years of experience with a main contractor or in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and standards.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and project management software such as Primavera or Revit.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and consistently meet tight deadlines.
