The Opportunity

The Tax Specialist is a specialist finance role responsible for managing Core42’s direct and indirect tax obligations.

The role partners with Financial Reporting, Accounts Payable, Treasury, Legal, the business, tax authorities, and external advisors.

The role covers UAE corporate tax, VAT, transfer pricing, tax advice, documentation, and compliance risk management.

Tax Compliance and Filings

  • Prepare and submit UAE corporate tax and VAT returns accurately within statutory deadlines.
  • Manage tax payments, refunds, and registrations across group entities.
  • Maintain complete, audit-ready supporting documentation for every filing and tax position.

Tax Accounting and Reporting

  • Prepare current and deferred tax calculations, provisions, and disclosures for statutory and management reporting.
  • Reconcile tax accounts and resolve differences with the Financial Reporting team.
  • Support external audits on tax balances, judgements, and disclosures.

Advisory and Business Partnering

  • Advise on the tax treatment of contracts, procurement arrangements, and new products or entities.
  • Partner with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable on VAT and withholding treatment at source.
  • Assess tax impacts of cross-border transactions, permanent establishment risk, and double tax treaty positions.

Transfer Pricing and Governance

  • Support transfer pricing documentation, including local file and disclosure requirements.
  • Monitor inter-company arrangements for consistency with the group’s transfer pricing policy.
  • Maintain the tax risk register and escalate emerging exposures to Finance leadership.

Authorities, Advisors, and Change

  • Manage tax authority correspondence, queries, and audits in coordination with external advisors.
  • Monitor UAE and regional tax legislation and translate changes into practical business actions.
  • Improve tax processes and controls through better data, documentation, and ERP automation.

Required Qualifications

  • At least five years of tax experience in a professional services firm or in-house corporate tax function.
  • Professional qualification in tax or accounting, such as ADIT, CTA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or CA, or an equivalent degree.
  • Hands-on experience preparing UAE corporate tax and VAT returns and supporting documentation.
  • Working knowledge of tax accounting, including current and deferred tax under IFRS.
  • Understanding of transfer pricing principles and documentation requirements.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, plain-language communication ability, accuracy, confidentiality, and documentation discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with UAE tax authority audits or dispute resolution.
  • Exposure to technology, cloud, or large-scale infrastructure businesses.
  • Experience with ERP tax configuration or tax reporting automation tools.
  • Familiarity with wider GCC tax regimes and international tax frameworks.
