Role Overview

Egis is seeking a Systems Integration Manager for major rail and transportation programmes.

The role leads systems engineering, systems integration, systems assurance, and safety assurance delivery.

The position combines technical leadership, people management, client engagement, and capability development.

Leadership and People Management

  • Lead and manage Systems Engineers, Systems Integration Engineers, and Safety Assurance professionals.
  • Undertake resource, performance, career development, and objective-setting responsibilities for assigned staff.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance and support professional accreditation.
  • Manage team allocation and capacity across projects.
  • Support recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and team growth.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, high-performing culture and address capability gaps.

Systems Engineering and Integration

  • Lead systems integration principles across the full project lifecycle.
  • Develop integration strategies for multidisciplinary rail and transportation projects.
  • Manage interfaces between signalling, telecommunications, rolling stock, power, stations, track, operational, and maintenance systems.
  • Manage requirements capture, allocation, traceability, systems architecture, and interface activities.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and facilitate workshops, design reviews, and integration forums.
  • Review and approve systems engineering and integration deliverables.

Safety and Systems Assurance

  • Lead safety assurance activities across projects and programmes.
  • Maintain Safety Assurance Plans, Safety Cases, and Hazard Management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM, CSM-RA, RIR, and interoperability requirements.
  • Lead HAZID, HAZOP, safety workshops, and risk assessment activities.
  • Manage interfaces with Independent Safety Assessors, Assessment Bodies, NoBo, and DeBo organisations.
  • Lead requirements verification and validation, testing, commissioning, assurance evidence, and project approvals.

Client and Business Leadership

  • Act as a trusted technical adviser to clients and project stakeholders.
  • Support business development, bid preparation, proposals, delivery strategies, and technical solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to grow Systems Integration and Safety Assurance services.
  • Represent Egis at client meetings, industry working groups, and professional forums.
  • Contribute to standards, methodologies, and technical excellence initiatives.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Systems Engineering, Railway Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Significant rail-industry experience in systems engineering, systems integration, and safety assurance.
  • Experience leading and managing engineering teams in a consultancy, contractor, or client organisation.
  • Strong understanding of railway systems and multidisciplinary engineering integration.
  • Knowledge of systems integration, requirements management, interface management, V&V, systems assurance, CSM-RA, CDM, RIR, safety cases, and hazard management.
  • Strong stakeholder and client management capabilities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Chartered Engineer status is desirable.
  • Experience with HS2, Network Rail, TfL, metro, light rail, or international rail programmes is desirable.
  • Experience using DOORS or an equivalent requirements management tool is desirable.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards is desirable.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams across large infrastructure projects is desirable.
