Role overview
Define and oversee the technical architecture of a major spacecraft mission in the space sector.
Shape end-to-end system design so subsystems integrate into a coherent, reliable, and mission-ready spacecraft platform.
Location and work pattern
- The role is based in London.
- On-site attendance is required 1–2 times per month.
Key responsibilities
- Define the overall spacecraft architecture in alignment with mission objectives, constraints, and performance requirements.
- Lead system-level concepts, including functional breakdowns, subsystem interactions, and high-level design flows.
- Own and maintain the technical baseline across electrical, mechanical, RF, software, thermal, and payload domains.
- Produce and manage system specifications, architectural documentation, and interface definitions.
- Drive trade-off analyses across performance, reliability, mass, power, and cost.
- Support risk identification, mitigation strategies, and architectural decisions affecting mission reliability.
- Oversee system-level verification and validation to ensure the architecture is testable and compliant.
- Collaborate with AIT, mission operations, and engineering teams throughout development and testing.
- Provide senior technical leadership, mentor engineers, and influence long-term architectural strategy.
