System Safety Engineer, Mining/Industrial

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline

3+ years of system safety experience with a primary focus safety per ISO 26262 Part 6

Hands-on experience developing system-level safety analyses and safety artifacts for complex electromechanical systems

Strong experience with HAZOP, FMEA, safety requirement derivation, risk assessment, and safety case development

Good understanding of vehicle and machine control systems including braking, steering, propulsion, hydraulics, and autonomous control functions

Ability to analyze interactions between hardware, software, controls, operators, and operational environments

Experience collaborating across software, hardware, and systems engineering teams to implement safety requirements end-to-end

Experience defining safety requirements and mitigation strategies from identified hazards and failure modes

Experience supporting verification and validation activities for safety-critical systems

Hands-on experience producing safety work products across the V-cycle

**Candidates with automotive functional safety experience, particularly ISO 26262 Part 4, HARA, FSC/TSC development, ADAS, or autonomous driving systems, are considered relevant and transferable to this role

Familiarity with requirements management and traceability tools (JAMA, DOORS, Polarion, or equivalent)

Working knowledge of machine safety and industrial safety standards such as ISO 19014, ISO 17757, ISO 13849, IEC 62061, and ISO 12100

Experience working with mining, construction, agricultural, industrial, robotics, autonomous vehicle, or heavy equipment programs is desirable

Previously worked on OS, Device drivers and Platform level Safety is value added

Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits. Applied Intuition pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum intended target base salary for new hire salaries for the position. The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, interview performance, and the level and scope of the position.
