Overview
The Sustainability Engineer supports the implementation of sustainability strategies, ensures compliance with green building certification requirements, and assists in monitoring sustainability performance across project lifecycles.
The role involves coordination with project teams, contractors, and regulatory authorities to deliver compliant and effective sustainability outcomes.
Sustainability Management & Coordination
- Support communication of sustainability certification requirements and project progress to stakeholders and project teams.
- Coordinate with the Contractor's Sustainability Engineer/Manager on day-to-day activities.
- Assist MEP and Civil teams in meeting sustainability requirements.
- Participate in sustainability meetings and support preparation of Minutes of Meeting (MoM).
Design & Documentation Review
- Assist in reviewing design drawings, specifications, and sustainability-related documentation.
- Maintain documentation required for tracking sustainability KPIs.
- Review sustainability plans, procedures, and monitoring trackers submitted by contractors.
- Support review of contractor submissions including:
- Technical material submittals
- Shop drawings
- Calculations and reports
- Ensure documentation aligns with sustainability specifications and project requirements.
Certification & Compliance
- Support green building certification processes (LEED, Estidama, Al Sa'fat, etc.).
- Assist in preparing documentation required for authority approvals.
- Review contractor submissions for compliance with sustainability requirements.
- Ensure adherence to QA/QC procedures and quality standards.
Site Monitoring & Audits
- Conduct site inspections and support sustainability audits.
- Assist in scheduling and coordinating audits required by regulatory bodies.
- Monitor Contractor's CEMP implementation and report non-compliance issues.
- Support issuance and tracking of:
• Site Inspection Notices (SINs)
- Follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
Reporting & Performance Tracking
- Review contractor sustainability reports.
- Assist in preparing monthly sustainability performance reports.
- Support reporting of environmental and sustainability performance to clients.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Ensure sustainability-related inspections, sampling, and testing activities are carried out as per standards.
- Assist in inspection of materials and witnessing of tests where required.
Knowledge & Development
- Assist in preparing sustainability reports and documentation.
- Support research on sustainability materials, technologies, and best practices.
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and training initiatives.
About You
- Bachelor's Degree (B.Eng / B.Tech) in Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in sustainability or related roles.
• ESTIDAMA PQP (PBRS & PCRS)
- LEED Green Associate or LEED AP
• WELL AP (advantage)
