Role Overview

  • The Survival Equipment and Avionics Controller is responsible for ensuring that all off aircraft maintenance work is performed to approved data and quality standards.

Core Activity

  • High level of survival equipment and avionics knowledge is required.
  • Initial set up of aircraft bays.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all off aircraft maintenance work is performed to approved data and quality standards.
  • Reporting to the Deputy Depth Maintenance Manager for the organisation, administration, control and efficiency of the Part 145 Bay Operations.
  • Ensuring that all required regulatory and company standards of quality are achieved for all tasks carried out in the maintenance organisation.
  • Requires the ability to think and plan tactically to respond to the constantly changing environment in terms of Customer and product changes/customisation.
  • Supervising the team to ensure that maintenance is undertaken to schedule and highlight any issues, escalate as required.
  • Report on any impact to the wider programme.
  • Demonstrate a flexible and proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities appropriate to the role and takes direction appropriately.
  • Ensuring that staff are sufficiently competent and approved for the maintenance tasks allocated to them.
  • Maintain personal & teams task authorisation for working on an aircraft or components in accordance with AMC requirements.
  • Responsible for meeting agreed delivery targets in the short to medium term through the supervision of others.

Requirements

  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or Military equivalent apprenticeship / qualifications.
  • Academic qualification for this role is a minimum of City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent.
  • Aircraft platform training (On a/c requirement).
  • Experienced and competent leader at this level.
  • Requires a minimum of 2 years working at Technician level prior to undertaking a Supervisor role.
  • Demonstrating breadth of experience, currency & recency via a Log Book capturing skills, knowledge and authorities for working on Aircraft type or in bays.
  • Practical experience and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of Expositions and Functionally Mandated Procedures.
  • Management training.
  • PDR training / experience.
  • Strong customer awareness with experience of his culture, ethos, policies, capabilities and processes such that the individual has gravitas with the Customer.
  • Relevant Engineering degree or equivalent.
