As a Substation Technician, your role is critical to delivering good work safely from the get‑go, ensuring the ongoing safety, reliability, sustainability and affordability of our network assets for customers. Working to the highest standards of quality, cost and time, you take ownership for safety and preparation as you inspect, install and maintain network infrastructure and electrical equipment.
From structures to cables, your expertise supports well‑planned, safe and efficient work near live electrical apparatus. You’ll prepare work sites thoroughly, liaise with key internal and external stakeholders, resolve customer issues, interpret technical documentation and contribute to emergency restoration work, ensuring the job is planned well and done right the first time.

To be successful, you will have the following skills & experience:
Qualified Electrician – Cert III in Electrotechnology (or equivalent).
Proven experience in an electrical trade role within the electricity distribution or relevant industry including experience in substation related activities.

Class C drivers license.
Electrical Safety Rules accreditation and other relevant statutory training.
Sound knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations and procedures such as safe working practices, network standards and codes of practice.
WH&S WorkCover – General Induction.
Asbestos awareness and experience working safely with asbestos materials related to working in substations or on the network.
Demonstrated experience in the application of safe manual handling techniques. Basic skills in the use of computers and mobile devices.
Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating with others.
Proven capability to work effectively within a team or work crew.
