Canadian University Dubai invites applications for the position of
Student Affairs Officer
within the Student Affairs Division.
This role contributes to the University’s commitment to supporting an engaging, inclusive, and vibrant student experience.
The successful candidate will play a key role in planning and delivering initiatives that enrich student life, promote student success, and strengthen community engagement across the University.
Position Overview
The Student Affairs Officer reports directly to the VP Student Affairs and is responsible for managing a wide range of student events and activities throughout the academic year.
This includes planning, coordinating, and executing internal and external events, overseeing student success and retention initiatives, supervising key student support areas, and collaborating with institutional partners.
The role requires both independent work and teamwork, with responsibility for escalating major concerns or decisions to the manager or VP Student Affairs as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
The Student Affairs Officer’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Event Planning And Student Engagement
- Prioritize, organize, plan, and coordinate internal and external student events including orientation, student success initiatives, new student activities, career development events, and alumni engagement activities
- Develop event plans and secure required approvals
- Create comprehensive project plans including presentations, exhibitions, and sponsorships
- Build and maintain relationships with partners and external stakeholders to ensure successful event delivery
Budget And Operational Oversight
- Develop and manage annual budgets for all events, ensuring all materials and services are accounted for including catering, lighting, invitations, photography, gifts, DJ services, sponsorships, and VIP requirements
- Manage outsourcing and the coordination of contractors as necessary
Student Support And Success
- Plan and implement activities that support first-year students and strengthen first-year retention strategies
- Supervise the Student Success Center and oversee related programs
- Work closely with the Student Council in planning events, supporting leadership development, and organizing student council elections
- Additional duties may be required from time to time to support departmental objectives.
Minimum Qualifications And Experience
- A Bachelor degree in Marketing or Events Management is preferred
- Preference will be given to candidates with Canadian affiliation
Knowledge And Skills
- Strong planning and organizing abilities
- Advanced multi-tasking skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Strong communication skills
- Customer service orientation and commitment to achievement
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong English verbal and written skills, Arabic or French is an asset
- Understanding of the higher education environment locally and internationally
