This competition will be used to fill one permanent and multiple wage positions at the Calgary Remand Centre. Hours of work: 36.25 hours per week. This role requires working both day and night shifts, including weekends. The Calgary Remand Centre is located at 12200 85 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta T3R 1J3. The Centre operates 24/7.
Public transportation to the Centre is limited and the successful candidate is required to have access to reliable transportation. Free parking is available. Wage positions are offered on a casual/on-call basis, hours of work are not guaranteed and will be determined by the Supervisor. Successful candidates may at times receive shifts on short notice. A successful candidate could be working full-time hours or have no shifts depending on the week. Shifts vary based on the Centre’s needs. In addition to regular wages, wage employees receive 11.6% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:
5.6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays.
6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay.
You will be eligible for a Correctional Institutional Salary Allowance for each day worked. Final candidates for this position will be required to provide a Fingerprint Based Criminal Record Check. Any associated costs will be your responsibility, and you are only required to provide this check if requested. We cannot accept on-line Criminal Record Checks, from a non-Policing Agency. Any costs associated with obtaining the required documents/checks as noted or interview travel expenses will be the responsibility of the candidate.
