Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to help design and deliver key platform capabilities within Visa’s Intelligent Commerce ecosystem.
This role focuses on building scalable backend services, APIs, and platform components that power merchant integrations and intelligent commerce experiences.
You will work closely with engineers, product managers, and architects to develop high-quality solutions while contributing hands-on throughout the software development lifecycle.
This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong software engineering fundamentals, system design experience, and a passion for building reliable, scalable systems.

Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience building scalable distributed systems
- Strong proficiency in Java and/or Python
- Experience with microservices, REST APIs, Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD
- Knowledge of cloud-native application development
- Experience designing and supporting production systems
- Exposure to AI-enabled systems, intelligent platforms, or large-scale commerce experiences
- Familiarity with React or Angular is a plus
- Skills You Bring:
- Strong software engineering and coding expertise
- Solid system design and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to deliver features independently
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
