- Valid nursing license in Abu Dhabi/UAE
- Knowledge of nursing scope of practice and professional codes of conduct
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments
- Experience in direct patient care

Job Purpose
- The Staff Nurse is accountable for coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care.
Assessment and Diagnosis
- Collects and analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis/issues.
- Uses evidence based assessment techniques and instruments.
- Prioritizes data based on patient's condition or anticipated needs.
- Documents data in compliance with guidelines.
Planning and Outcomes Identification
- Identifies expected outcomes and develops a plan for health promotion, restoration, and maintenance.
- Involves patient, family, and healthcare team in formulating culturally appropriate plan.
- Applies evidence based nursing practices.
- Modifies plan based on ongoing assessment.
Implementation and Coordination of Care Delivery
- Implements plan of care in partnership with patient, family, and team.
- Performs treatments and procedures according to guidelines.
- Administers medications per policies.
- Documents all components of care plan.
- Communicates relevant information across levels of care.
Health Teaching and Health Promotion
- Utilizes teaching strategies appropriate to patient's condition and learning needs.
- Supports patients and families in developing self management skills.
- Seeks feedback on effectiveness of strategies.
- Documents health education in patient record.
Evaluation
- Evaluates progress toward outcomes.
- Assesses patient/family understanding and response.
- Revises nursing diagnoses and plan based on ongoing assessment.
- Provides comprehensive clinical handover.
- Attends patient care rounds and communicates changes.
Evidence based Practice and Research
- Integrates evidence and research findings into practice.
- Participates in evidence based and research activities.
- Shares findings with healthcare team.
- Participates in performance improvement projects.
Leadership
- Demonstrates leadership behaviors in practice settings.
- Functions as a professional role model.
- Coordinates and supervises delegated activities.
- Demonstrates critical thinking in priority setting.
- Participates in organizational shared decision making.
- Supervises practical nurses, junior staff, and student nurses.
Accountabilities
- Applies principles of professional codes of ethics.
- Maintains therapeutic nurse patient relationship and serves as patient advocate.
- Speaks up to question healthcare practices for safety and quality.
- Discloses illegal or incompetent practices per policy.
