Role summary

Architecture

• Define and evolve frontend architecture patterns and shared capabilities used across multiple product teams.
• Drive scalable patterns for component architecture, state management, application structure, and frontend integrations.
• Ensure consistency, reusability, maintainability, and scalability across frontend codebases.
• Lead architecture reviews and guide frontend design decisions across teams.
• Identify opportunities to simplify systems through shared abstractions and reusable solutions.

Platform and technical direction

• Drive adoption of shared frontend platforms, frameworks, and tooling across teams.
• Improve engineering velocity through standardization, automation, and platform investments.
• Contribute to design systems, UI frameworks, and shared frontend infrastructure.
• Align architectural decisions with product, platform, and engineering objectives.
• Establish frontend standards and guide teams toward maintainable, scalable technical decisions.
• Drive adoption of modern frontend technologies, tools, and workflows.

Performance and system evolution

• Define standards for performance, accessibility, user experience, testing, observability, monitoring, and reliability.
• Lead initiatives that improve application performance, responsiveness, reliability, and developer experience.
• Identify systemic frontend risks, including bottlenecks, inconsistencies, scalability challenges, and maintainability concerns.
• Lead cross-team efforts to address technical debt and evolve systems for increasing scale and complexity.

Technical leadership

• Mentor senior engineers and elevate frontend engineering standards across teams.
• Influence technical direction across multiple teams without direct authority.
• Lead critical technical initiatives spanning multiple teams or domains.
• Facilitate technical alignment between product and platform engineering teams.
• Foster quality, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and experience

• 8–12 years of software engineering experience with deep frontend expertise.
• Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Extensive experience with React or similar frameworks in large-scale applications.
• Strong expertise in frontend architecture, design systems, and scalable UI development.
• Experience building shared component libraries or frontend platforms.
• Deep understanding of browser internals, rendering, and performance optimization.
• Experience with frontend standards, modern tooling, CI/CD, cloud environments, observability, and SaaS platforms.

Good to have

• Experience leading or contributing to design systems at scale.
• Exposure to micro-frontend or modular frontend architectures.
• Familiarity with security considerations in frontend applications.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Codex or Cursor.
• Background in developer experience, platform engineering, frontend modernization, or platform adoption.
