The Network Team owns end-to-end networking across large-scale bare-metal datacenters and major public cloud platforms.
The team works at the intersection of network engineering and software development with application, datacenter, and SRE teams.
The team uses a software-first approach and integrates AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor and Claude.
Who They Are Seeking
The role seeks a Senior Software Engineer with deep networking expertise and strong software craftsmanship.
The engineer will help shape network automation strategy and build scalable, maintainable solutions for global infrastructure.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, build, and scale a global network platform spanning physical datacenters and AWS, Azure, and Alibaba Cloud.
- Support thousands of hosts and address petabyte-scale data challenges.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues and maintain high availability and performance.
- Lead root cause analyses and postmortems and implement improvements from incidents.
- Automate workflows, eliminate toil, and improve operational processes.
- Participate in a global follow-the-sun on-call rotation.
Technical Experience
- Six to eight years of hands-on network automation and operational experience supporting large-scale production infrastructure.
- Deep expertise in TCP/IP, the OSI model, BGP, OSPF, Kubernetes networking, container networking, and software load balancers.
- Experience with IPv6, software-defined networking, quality of service, network operating systems, monitoring, and alerting.
- Experience applying infrastructure as code, DevOps, and SRE principles to network engineering.
- Proficiency creating automation and tools with Python or Go.
Additional Experience
- Experience with Kubernetes and Docker troubleshooting and performance tuning, including bare-metal Kubernetes as a plus.
- Experience integrating AI tools, LLMs, MCP, or agentic workflows into engineering processes.
- Strong communication, documentation, collaboration, critical thinking, and self-directed delivery skills.
