Role overview
Under general direction, handle complex manufacturing planning activities related to facility layouts, operations, workflows, and production efficiency.
Provide work leadership and training to lower-level professional employees.
Primary responsibilities
- Develop manufacturing methods that reduce waste, improve safety, enhance performance, and identify improvement opportunities.
- Design equipment and workspace layouts for efficient workforce, space, and workflow utilization.
- Coordinate product design and tooling decisions with planning and design staff.
- Resolve technical problems and coordinate manufacturing capabilities and production schedules.
- Prepare cost estimates, staffing requirements, production-time estimates, and capital budget plans.
- Coordinate equipment and materials purchases with vendors and evaluate products against specifications and quality standards.
- Evaluate environmental issues, select and audit waste disposal vendors, and file EPA reports.
- Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
Required qualifications
- A related bachelor's degree with at least 7 years of job-related experience, or a related associate degree with at least 9 years of job-related experience.
- Ability to interpret technical and governmental materials, write clear reports and procedures, and present information effectively.
