Role Overview
Lead direct purchasing, global sourcing, new product development, advanced development, and vendor development activities.
Own sourcing activities from RFP or RFQ through product launch and SOP for assigned categories and commodities.
Work with engineering, quality, suppliers, production control, logistics, customers, and other stakeholders.
Sourcing and Product Development
- Develop and source bill-of-material and raw-material parts.
- Lead new product and supplier development through sourcing, VAVE, APQP, and PPAP gate reviews.
- Lead global and domestic advanced development and continuous development projects.
- Develop tooling capabilities while minimizing supply and technical risks.
- Assess potential and series suppliers with engineering teams.
Costing and Cost Management
- Prepare and run zero-based costing and should-cost models.
- Understand key cost drivers and identify sustainable cost-reduction opportunities.
- Negotiate techno-commercial terms and conditions with suppliers.
- Implement cost savings and cost reduction ideas.
- Monitor the impact of costing and value engineering on product profitability and customer satisfaction.
