Snowflake Platform Architecture & Governance
• Design and enforce security frameworks around RBAC (functional vs. access role patterns), network policies, authentication policies, and dynamic data masking
• Architect cost optimization strategies, including warehouse sizing, compute virtualization, resource monitors, query tagging, and reserved capacity planning
• Own data masking and compliance controls, implementing row-level access policies, column-level masking, PII object tagging, and Access History audit trails
• Manage identity and authentication infrastructure, integrating Okta with Snowflake via SCIM and maintaining scalable role hierarchies
Infrastructure as Code & Automation
• Build and maintain Terraform/IaC configurations for provisioning and enforcing governance controls across environments
• Design automated access request, approval, and certification workflows through CI/CD pipelines
• Develop governance monitoring pipelines that surface access anomalies, policy violations, and compliance violations in real-time
Compliance & SOX Support
• Own technical execution of SOX controls, including generating audit-ready access reports and maintaining evidence packages
• Automate compliance evidence collection and enable continuous compliance validation
Data Platform Enablement & AWS Integration
• Architect secure data sharing patterns across Snowflake, Iceberg, and AWS (S3, Athena, Spark)
• Support modern data orchestration via Airflow (MWAA), Lambda, and EventBridge with governance controls
• Enable multi-engine data architectures, ensuring Iceberg tables maintain consistent governance across platforms
Platform Maturity & Emerging Capabilities
• Establish governance foundations for Snowflake AI & ML, including Cortex, Agents, and Snowpark ML
• Drive cost observability through resource monitors, Alerts, and query tagging frameworks
• Maintain platform reliability and self-service enablement as the technical resource for governance issues
Required Expertise
• Snowflake mastery: RBAC design, row-level security, dynamic data masking, network/authentication policies, resource monitors, Access History
• Infrastructure as Code: Hands-on Terraform experience; ability to eliminate manual configuration
• AWS cloud platform: S3 Storage Integrations, IAM trust policies, multi-engine data architectures
• Identity and access management: Scalable RBAC hierarchies, federated authentication, Okta/SCIM integration
• Compliance automation: SOX or SOC 2 compliance program support; audit evidence and control documentation expertise
• Data architecture depth: SQL for access auditing and governance reporting; Iceberg table formats and schema evolution
• Automation & scripting: Python or equivalent; experience with Airflow, Lambda, or EventBridge
Preferred Strengths
• Snowflake AI/ML: Exposure to Cortex, Agents, or Snowpark ML and their governance implications
• Modern data catalogs: Experience with Alation, Collibra, or similar metadata automation tools
• CI/CD for data platforms: GitHub workflows for infrastructure changes and governance testing
• Enterprise data governance: Track record building governance cultures and change management at scale
Business Impact
• Reduces audit exposure through automated, auditable governance infrastructure
• Accelerates data delivery with self-service access models and security guardrails
• Optimizes platform economics through cost controls, resource efficiency, and chargeback automation
• Enables innovation by freeing teams from repetitive manual governance tasks
