- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions
- Mentor and guide junior data scientists
Requirements
- 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL for extracting insights from large scale datasets
- Skilled in data visualization tools like Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or Python libraries (Seaborn, Plotly)
- Deep understanding of fraud typologies (e.g., account takeover, payment fraud, synthetic identity) and risk management frameworks
- Experience critically evaluating fraud strategies and performing deep dive analytics

Core Responsibilities
- Independent Challenge & Validation: Critically evaluate the effectiveness of fraud strategies developed by the First Line of Defense.
- Fraud Risk Assessment: Perform deep dive analytics on transactional, Identity data to identify emerging fraud patterns and vulnerabilities.
- Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of fraud typologies and risk management frameworks.
- Cross Functional Consultation: Act as a subject matter expert to advise senior leadership on risk controls.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Technical Skills
- Programming: Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL for extracting insights from large scale datasets.
- Data Visualization: Skilled in using tools like Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or Python libraries (Seaborn, Plotly) to present complex findings to non technical stakeholders.
Pay Range
- Austin, Texas: ($130,500.00 $193,600.00 Annually)
- Chicago, Illinois: ($130,500.00 $193,600.00 Annually)
Work Model
- PayPal's balanced hybrid work model offers 3 days in the office for effective in person collaboration and 2 days at your choice of either the PayPal office or your home workspace.
