Job Summary

Plan and guide engineering team activities to achieve quality product and operational efficiency goals.

The role supports automation, manufacturing processes, technical projects, engineering documentation, and plant performance.

Engineering and Automation Duties

  • Mentor and potentially lead the engineering team to achieve site and department goals.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and improve automated equipment through technical and hands-on work.
  • Develop and implement sustainable manufacturing processes and systems with cross-functional teams.
  • Perform and document engineering studies and evaluations.

Analysis and Improvement

  • Analyze data to drive improvements, determine priorities, and identify opportunities.
  • Lead and mentor root cause and corrective action activities.
  • Promote and support a Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Research new technologies and methodologies for plant use.

Training and Projects

  • Assess and schedule technical training covering electromechanical systems, pneumatics, servos, PLCs, schematic interpretation, and new technology.
  • Champion high-visibility projects and develop scope, timelines, savings estimates, and cost estimates.
  • Quote new automation lines and engineering services and develop design concepts for new automation.
  • Write validation, user requirements, equipment specification, and related documents.

Operations and Collaboration

  • Provide engineering assistance to maintain plant, machinery, and processes at an optimum level.
  • Build relationships with customers and automation suppliers to support business opportunities.
  • Provide customer service when interacting with internal and external customers.
  • Follow applicable regulations, policies, procedures, instructions, and safety rules.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a science field is required.
  • Master’s degree in engineering or a science field is preferred.
  • At least five years of experience is required.
  • At least two years of managerial or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • A strong automation background is required.

Knowledge and Certifications

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, workflows, production equipment, and industrial techniques is required.
  • Effective problem-solving and interpersonal skills are required.
  • CAD and SAP experience is a plus.
  • Manufacturing Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification is preferred.

Travel and Schedule

  • Travel is approximately 10%, up to 26 business days per year.
  • The regular shift is Monday through Friday.

Physical Requirements

  • The position is primarily sedentary, with occasional force of up to 10 pounds and limited physical demands.
  • Regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance is expected.
