Position Overview
As an integral member of Allied Health, the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides assessment and treatment for adult patients with communication and swallowing disorders.
The successful candidate will work in a progressive multi-professional team, participate in rounds, meetings and quality initiatives and assist with coverage across other clinical service areas as necessary.
Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) provides swallowing and communication intervention to patients across Toronto Rehab.
The candidate will perform all other duties as required.
Duties
- Provide evidence-based assessment, management and counselling of patients with voice, fluency, language, cognitive-communicative, swallowing and motor speech disorders.
- Provide treatment and education services to patients, with a focus on planning for return to work or return to school for many patients.
- Rehabilitation potential of patients based on environmental considerations, assessments of other health care professionals as well as speech and language assessment will result in innovative individual and group-based models of clinical intervention; realistic goals and objectives for effective pati
- Facilitate communication exchanges between patients and other professions.
- Provide family members, caregivers, staff, and volunteers education in management techniques/approaches.
