Financial Analyst II

Duties

• Evaluates research protocols to assess resource needs for research procedures, clinical research staff time, investigator time, and costs from ancillary departments
• Develops and negotiates initial and amended budgets for clinical trials
• Identifies and/or researches whether research procedures in the protocol are standard-of-care or research-related costs in order to correctly classify expenses
• Produces budget amendment as required
• Establishes effective working relationships with cross-functional team(s) and represents the company with external constituents
• Other tasks as assigned and ad-hoc requests, which may include, but are not limited to, developing accounting system for clinical trials, contributing to business cases for program expansion/consolidation etc., or participating on special committees
• University Degree in Business Administration or equivalent required
• Enrolment in a recognized professional accounting program (e.g., CPA ), preferred
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting an asset
• Previous experience with research funding an asset
• Expert knowledge of Excel; strong knowledge of Access and PowerPoint
• 3 years relevant experience
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong attention to details and always striving for accuracy
• Ability to prioritize
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as a team player
• Experience with financial modeling
• Experience with financial and cost accounting and with analyzing and interpreting large quantities of financial and statistical data; systems thinker
