Job Purpose
Manage customs clearance activities for import and export shipments.
Prepare documentation, coordinate with forwarders and authorities, and support timely shipment delivery while meeting legal and regulatory requirements.
Shipping Requests and Compliance
- Review shipping requests from purchase officers and coordinate correction of purchase order discrepancies.
- Verify cargo descriptions against legal duty exemption criteria and initiate exemption requests for items outside the exemption list.
- Process shipping requests in the system and complete updates accurately and on time.
Shipment Planning and Execution
- Collect packing, quantity, weight, volume, and readiness details from shippers.
- Determine whether shipments require FCL, LCL, or consolidation and obtain or review forwarder rates.
- Compare options, select an efficient and cost-effective solution after supervisor confirmation, and release the freight order.
- Coordinate pickup and shipment movement and monitor lead times from origin to destination.
Documentation and Claims
- Maintain communication with shippers and forwarders, report deviations, and coordinate corrective measures.
- Ensure shipping documents meet local regulations and freight order requirements and are available before port arrival.
- Assist with insurance claims and provide required claim documentation to the insurance specialist.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in transportation, logistics, or another relevant field.
- 2–4 years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of shipping management, supply chain best practices, and supply chain standards and procedures.
Operational Expectations
- Solve related operational problems and escalate complex issues.
- Comply with applicable policies, procedures, work instructions, and health, safety, environmental, and quality controls.
- Use resources effectively, meet delivery schedules, prepare periodic reports, and identify process automation opportunities.
