Specialist Developer-Java

At CPKC, technology drives the safe and efficient movement of freight across North America. As a Specialist Developer-Java, you will play a key role in designing, developing, implementing, and supporting Java-based APIs and applications within our Yard Management Systems (YMS) landscape. Working alongside cross-functional teams, you will deliver innovative, scalable, and reliable solutions that enhance operational performance, improve system integration, and support the digital transformation of one of North America's most iconic transportation networks.

Gather, analyze, refine, and document business and system requirements while ensuring solutions align with best practices, architecture standards, and business objectives

Design, develop, test, implement, and support enhancements and new functionality for enterprise applications, APIs, and system components throughout the software development lifecycle

Create and maintain technical documentation, including requirements, design documents, technical specifications, test plans, implementation documentation, operational procedures, and user guides

Support system design activities, configuration management, code and database administration, and deployment activities across development, testing, and production environments while adhering to CPKC development standards and processes

Provide functional and technical application support, participate in the weekly on-call rotation, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate solution implementation to ensure system reliability and performance

Collaborate with business and technology teams to track progress, resolve issues, communicate status updates, participate in project and team meetings, and perform additional responsibilities as required to support business priorities and operational excellence
