Software Engineering Manager, SRE, AI Foundations, Data Intelligence

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed team of SREs. Drive performance evaluations, career management, and strategic hiring to support expanding initiatives.
• Own end-to-end reliability for F1 Query and CDQ services. Lead within a Tier-1 on-call rotation (5-minute response SLA) to ensure rapid incident resolution and high availability.
• Identify architectural bottlenecks and design resilient systems. Scale infrastructure sustainably by replacing manual toil with automation to boost reliability and release velocity.
• Partner with core Query development teams and peer SRE groups across AI Foundations and Data Intelligence. Drive alignment on roadmaps and lead product area and Google-wide reliability efforts.
• Provide technical guidance via design reviews, consultation, and production training. Steer engineering across C++, Java, and Go services, covering capacity planning and performance tuning.

• Minimum qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience. - 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages. - 3 years of experience managing people or teams. - 3 years of experience leading projects. - 3 years of experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed systems. Preferred qualifications: - Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
