Henpen Corporation is seeking a Software Engineer to build mission-critical software for simulation, optimization, and decision support.
The role covers the full stack and full software lifecycle, from early prototyping through deployment.
Engineers work closely with researchers and end users to turn complex technical concepts into operational tools.
Location and Clearance
- The role is located in Reston, Virginia.
- An active Top Secret security clearance is required.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
What You’ll Do
- Build and scale full-stack applications supporting simulation, optimization, and decision-support tools.
- Design backend services and APIs using Java, Rust, or similar languages.
- Build responsive front-end applications using React and TypeScript.
- Partner with researchers and end users to shape requirements and translate technical concepts into working software.
- Contribute to prototyping, implementation, demonstrations, and deployment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Math, or a related field.
- At least five years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong experience with React, TypeScript, and modern front-end tooling.
- Experience building backend services and APIs in Java, Rust, or similar languages.
- A track record of writing readable, maintainable, well-engineered code in a collaborative setting.
- Ability to work directly with researchers, engineers, and end users to turn ideas into usable software.
- Exposure to full-stack web development in a modern framework.
- U.S. citizenship and an active Top Secret clearance.
Nice to Have
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Experience with performance-sensitive, algorithmic, or parallel and concurrent software.
- Background in defense, national security, or other mission-driven environments.
- Three-dimensional, geospatial, or high-performance visualization experience with WebGL or OpenGL.
- Experience with distributed systems, databases, or messaging and asynchronous processing.
- Familiarity with AI/ML-enabled software, including LLMs, computer vision, or model integration.
- Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, or CI/CD deployment.
