Role details
- The position is located in Reston, Virginia.
- An active Secret security clearance is required.
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain production software in a large Rust codebase.
- Design and optimize performance-sensitive algorithms and computational workloads.
- Build backend services using Axum and Tokio or similar technologies.
- Integrate software with databases, frontend applications, APIs, and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and end users to translate complex technical concepts into practical software.
- Evolve research-driven capabilities into scalable and maintainable production systems.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, applied mathematics, or a related technical field.
- At least three years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong experience developing production-grade, performance-sensitive software in Rust.
- Experience developing backend services with Axum or similar frameworks.
- Experience with asynchronous programming, preferably using Tokio.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and problem-solving skills.
- Experience across the software stack, including familiarity with web application development.
- Ability to collaborate with researchers, engineers, and end users.
- U.S. citizenship and an active Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Experience with Java, Python, TypeScript, or React.
- Experience developing highly optimized parallel or concurrent software.
- Experience with GPU programming or acceleration.
- Background in simulation, optimization, scientific computing, or other computationally intensive applications.
