Lens Studio provides developer tools for augmented reality experiences across Specs, Snapchat, and other services.

Role Overview

Snap is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Specs team.

The role focuses on reusable components, interactions, frameworks, and SDKs for immersive experiences on Spectacles augmented reality glasses.

The engineer will also develop components of SnapOS and collaborate with product, design, and interactive engineering teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, improve, and support reusable components, interactions, frameworks, and SDKs for Snap Spectacles augmented reality experiences.
  • Develop components of the operating system powering Spectacles, SnapOS.
  • Participate in code and design reviews.
  • Interact with design, interactive engineering, and product teams to shape and launch products.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with one or more object-oriented languages such as C++, Kotlin, or Java.
  • Experience delivering high-quality, performant, and scalable code with extensive unit and functional testing.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of software development experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of experience building and shipping high-performance code.
  • Experience with operating systems, resource-constrained devices, and 3D graphics.
  • Experience designing SDKs, APIs, and platforms.

Workplace Policy

  • Snap follows a default-together approach and expects team members to work in an office four or more days per week.

Compensation

  • The annual base salary range is $209,000 to $313,000 in Zone A, which includes California, Washington, and New York City.
  • The annual base salary range is $199,000 to $297,000 in Zone B and $178,000 to $266,000 in Zone C.
  • The position is eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units.
