Role Overview
First Solar is seeking a Software Engineer supporting manufacturing execution systems and data architectures.
The role develops, configures, and supports software for manufacturing, reliability, and research and development processes.
The position provides final-level escalated and tier-three support for global manufacturing applications and related systems.
Education and Experience
- A relevant Information Technology degree plus the specified related experience, or equivalent First Solar IT experience, is required.
- Overall experience should be 3–6 years, including 4+ years in manufacturing systems or software development teams using Microsoft .NET technologies.
- At least six months of experience with manufacturing control systems, shop-floor automation, PLCs, or OPC data transfer is required.
- Experience with software development life cycle practices, Agile teams, change management, and version control is required.
Required and Preferred Skills
- Required technologies include C#, Microsoft .NET, Entity Framework, MS SQL and/or PostgreSQL, Azure DevOps, Git/GitHub, RabbitMQ and/or MSMQ, React, and Vibe Coding or Agentic Coding.
- Required technical capabilities include multi-tier software troubleshooting, programming, object-oriented languages, data structures, and SQL Server configuration.
