Job Description Summary
Slack is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to build features, services, application programming interface methods, and models that use data to improve the product.
The team works across search, agentic systems, recommendations, and security and focuses on practical machine learning delivery rather than pure research.
The role may involve data pipelines, recommendation models, large language model tuning, application features, and experiment data analysis.
What You Will Do
- Develop machine learning models for ranking, retrieval, and generative artificial intelligence use cases.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to build features for Slack users.
- Lead or substantially contribute to large multifunctional projects with significant business impact.
- Own features or systems, define their long-term health, and improve surrounding systems.
- Support sustainable data collection pipelines and management of machine learning features.
- Help support and operations teams triage and resolve production issues.
- Mentor engineers, review code deeply, and improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
