About the Role
Sigma Computing's Compiler Team transforms user spreadsheet interactions into optimized SQL queries for exploratory analytics on cloud data warehouses.
The team builds core systems and abstractions that support Sigma's spreadsheet interface with speed, reliability, and scalability.
What You Will Be Doing
- Solve problems at the intersection of data modeling, query compilation, and large-scale interactive analytics.
- Design, build, and maintain compiler infrastructure and intermediate representations.
- Translate spreadsheet operations into optimized query plans.
- Apply optimization strategies across varied query workloads and data architectures.
- Contribute to backend Rust and frontend TypeScript foundations.
- Debug complex issues and improve product robustness and maintainability.
- Collaborate on designs and code reviews and drive technical best practices and architectural decisions.
Qualifications We Need
- Five or more years of experience engineering high-quality software systems.
- Demonstrated success building and maintaining complex infrastructure or core platform services.
- Deep understanding of computer science fundamentals, especially compilers, algorithms, and SQL optimization.
