Software Engineer

At Independent Software, as a Software Engineer, you will design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise applications supporting mission-critical systems.

You will work with Java, Angular, RESTful APIs, relational databases, containerization, and Kubernetes while supporting application and database modernization initiatives.

You will participate throughout the software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and technical design through development, testing, deployment, and operational support.

This role also provides opportunities to work across application, database, and deployment technologies in both cloud and on-premises environments.

• Analyze user and system requirements to design, develop, test, and maintain Java and Angular applications
• Design, develop, and support RESTful APIs, service integrations, and data access components
• Develop and support solutions using Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and other relational database technologies
• Support application modernization, including Spring Boot migrations, microservices, database modernization, and containerization
• Deploy and support containerized applications in Kubernetes environments across cloud and on-premises infrastructure
• Participate in architecture reviews, technical design, code reviews, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement
• Develop automated unit and integration tests and support CI/CD pipelines
• Maintain technical and development documentation using Jira and Confluence
• Provide backup database administration support for Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB
• Cross-train across application, database, and deployment technologies to support operational continuity
• Professional Software Engineering experience developing and supporting enterprise applications
• Experience with Java and/or other object-oriented application development technologies
• Experience developing or supporting web applications and backend services
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs
• Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, or similar technologies
