What You Will Do
As a Software Engineer, Level 3 at Independent Software, you will design, develop, test, and maintain mission-critical software solutions supporting national defense and intelligence operations.
You will work on complex software systems that may include data processing applications, advanced analytics, real-time systems, algorithm development, and enterprise business applications.
Working independently or as part of an agile development team, you will develop high-quality software, resolve technical challenges, and contribute to the design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and secure solutions that support customer mission objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications based on documented requirements.
- Develop software solutions for complex and diverse systems, including data processing, analytics, real-time applications, and enterprise systems.
- Participate in software design, requirements analysis, and system architecture discussions.
- Review, test, and validate software components to ensure compliance with design requirements and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and problem reports.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation related to software design, testing, and implementation.
- Collaborate with software engineers, system engineers, and other technical teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Evaluate hardware and software trade-offs and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
- Leverage Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS), Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS), and reusable software components when appropriate.
- Follow established software development methodologies, coding standards, and best practices.
- Experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications.
- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, C#, JavaScript, Go, or similar.
- Experience with software development methodologies, software design principles, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
