Software Development Engineer II

Position summary

Primary responsibilities

• Create test scenarios and automate coverage across F5 Application Delivery and Security Platform categories.
• Create and publish technical content and demos for internal teams and customers.
• Develop automated test systems that replicate real-world scenarios and integrate with continuous integration environments.
• Participate in code reviews and review automation submitted by other team members.
• Analyze test results, report product issues, and assist with issue resolution.
• Communicate status, action plans, and issue resolutions proactively.
• Deliver work according to planned and committed schedules.

Knowledge and skills

• Strong Python programming skills are required for automation, tooling, validation, and security research.
• Strong knowledge of security and networking is required.
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes is required for containerization work.
• Proficiency in L2/L3 network protocol testing is required.
• Strong networking experience and working knowledge of HTTP, DNS, and TCP/IP are required.
• CI/CD and Agile software development experience are required.
• AWS, Azure, or GCP knowledge is an added advantage.
• OWASP API Security and LLM knowledge are added advantages.
• GitHub or other source control management experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of professional experience in software testing and/or development is required, preferably in a Linux environment.
• A bachelor's degree in a computer or engineering-related field, or equivalent work experience, is required.
• Experience working with geographically dispersed teams is preferred.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills are required.

• Relevant product areas include F5 AI Guardrails, F5 AI Gateway, AI Red Teaming, LLM Model Security and Observability, BIG-IP traffic management, NGINX WAF, and F5 XC orchestration.
