Show Props Technician

Position Overview

Compensation

• The salary is AED 9,000 per month on an all-inclusive basis.
• The all-inclusive salary covers accommodation or housing, transportation, and personal living expenses in the UAE.

Show and Props Operations

• Prepare, inspect, preset, operate, strike, and reset props for rehearsals and performances.
• Position props according to show plots, cue sequences, and production requirements.
• Conduct pre-show and post-show inspections and execute backstage changes safely.
• Maintain knowledge of prop movements, performer interactions, backstage traffic, and show sequences.
• Respond to unexpected prop or scenic issues to help maintain show continuity.

Maintenance and Fabrication

• Maintain, repair, modify, and refurbish props using carpentry, mechanical, fabrication, and finishing techniques.
• Perform rapid repairs and preventive maintenance on show-critical props and equipment.
• Perform carpentry, woodworking, mechanical repairs, assembly, painting, finishing, and cosmetic restoration.
• Maintain tools and workshop equipment in safe and operational condition.

Inventory and Technical Support

• Maintain inventories of props, consumables, spare parts, tools, hardware, and maintenance materials.
• Organize backstage storage and workshop areas and document damage, repairs, replacements, and recurring issues.
• Coordinate with stage, automation, lighting, AV, wardrobe, show management, and other technical departments.
• Support technical rehearsals, cue-to-cues, installations, show changes, photoshoots, special events, and venue activations.

Safety and Operational Standards

• Maintain high standards of backstage safety, organization, and show readiness.
• Inspect moving, mechanical, and performer-interactive props before use.
• Follow venue health and safety procedures, technical protocols, and reporting lines.
• Maintain clean, organized, and secure technical work areas and report safety or performance risks.

Technical Skills

• Relevant skills include theatrical props, scenic maintenance, carpentry, woodworking, mechanical repair, fabrication, assembly, painting, finishing, and cosmetic restoration.
• Additional skills include hand and power tools, basic electrical troubleshooting, stage operations, preventive maintenance, technical drawings, inventory management, and basic rigging awareness.
• Stage automation or mechanical stage systems experience is advantageous.

Qualifications and Experience

• Three to five years of professional experience in props, stage technical operations, scenic workshops, theatre, resident entertainment, or live events.
• Professional theatre or resident production experience is strongly preferred.
• Candidates should have strong hands-on skills, backstage safety knowledge, attention to detail, troubleshooting ability, and organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Flexible availability is required for rehearsals, evening performances, weekends, public holidays, and special events.
• Immediate availability to join in Dubai is required.
