Role overview

Join Netcompany’s engineering team supporting a global defence manufacturing client.

Work across system engineering, infrastructure design and technical project delivery on multiple UK projects.

The role focuses on Windows infrastructure, complex issue resolution and collaborative technical delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Administer core operating systems and design Windows Server and Client gold builds and deployment templates.
  • Develop PowerShell automation for build and administration tasks.
  • Design and implement infrastructure solutions aligned with business requirements.
  • Lead and support upgrades, migrations and new deployments.
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware, software and network issues.
  • Document installations, configurations and operating system builds.
  • Monitor, maintain and optimize on-premise and cloud infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with vendors and drive lifecycle-wide operational improvements.

Required skills and experience

  • 3rd or 4th line technical support and infrastructure experience.
  • Extensive Windows Server and Client knowledge, including versions 10, 11, 12, 16, 19 and 22.
  • Windows Active Directory design and implementation in multi-domain and multi-forest environments.
  • Server and client application deployment and management, including IIS and Tomcat.
  • GPO design, troubleshooting and optimization.
  • Networking knowledge covering DFS, DHCP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs and TCP/IP.
  • Cloud experience with AWS, Azure or hybrid cloud deployments.
  • Virtualization experience with VMware ESXi or Hyper-V.
  • MECM, automated software deployment, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Azure AD and Intune experience.
  • PowerShell scripting for automation and management, with strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.

Desirable skills

  • MSI/MSIX application packaging experience.
  • Storage solutions knowledge, including SAN and NAS.
  • Linux knowledge.
  • Kubernetes and Cassandra DB experience.
