Saab Australia is an industry participant in the Combat Systems Integration – Integrated Project Team (CSI-IPT). The CSI-IPT forms a collaborative enterprise organisation to execute scopes of work across Hobart Class Destroyer (SEA4000 Phase 6 and other related Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) upgrades) and the Hunter Class Frigates (HCFs - SEA5000 Phase 1).
As part of the DDG Requirements Team, the Senior Systems Engineer - Requirements will contribute to the delivery of the Guided-missile Destroyer (DDG) requirements baseline and updated DDG specifications in support of upgrades to the DDG Combat System (CS).
Further, the successful candidate will:
Conducting requirement definition for complex DCE upgrade packages, including the elicitation, analysis, capture of requirement wording and traceability changes.
Conducting technical reviews of requirements for quality and correctness with an appreciation of accompanying impacts.
Supporting establishing and managing specifications that comprise the DDG CS Functional and Allocated Baselines.
Contributing to delivering requirements-related documentation in accordance with the Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL), such as CS Specifications (ENG-200) and RTM (ENG-250).
Supporting preparation and conduct of Requirements Working Groups (REQWGs).
Supporting preparation of requirements inputs and conduct of Mandated System Reviews (MSRs).
Liaising with and providing guidance to a range of internal and external stakeholders for requirements-related matters.
Driving strategic changes to DDG CS requirements development and management.
Developing junior members of the team in order to grow their skills and capabilities.
Representing the CSI-IPT DDG Requirements Team in external forums such as CoA working groups.

Your skills and experience will include:
Tertiary qualifications (Bachelor's or Master’s degree) in a relevant discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field etc.), and/or equivalent relevant experience (preferably within the defence industry).
Minimum of 8 years of experience in systems engineering, with significant experience in complex systems, military systems, and software intensive systems.
Extensive experience across the Systems Engineering Lifecycle, in particular: requirements definition and analysis methods; test and integration.
Proficiency in using advanced systems engineering software tools and simulation environments (e.g. DOORS, Cameo Systems Modeler, Cradle, etc.). Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Experience with systems integration, testing, and validation.
Significant experience with Combat System requirements within a maritime or equivalent context.
Knowledge of the Integration, Test and Evaluation of CS Products into Naval Platforms or equivalent complex Military Systems having challenging constraints.
Significant experience working with a broad set of internal and external stakeholders and partnering organisations to achieve common goals.
Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level.
