Opportunity Overview

Senior Engineer role focused primarily on structural design and evaluation of bridges.

Workplace and Schedule

  • The position is offered in a hybrid work model.
  • The stated workweek is 37.5 hours with three in-office days.

Compensation

  • The base salary is CAD 95,000 to CAD 125,000, aligned with experience, qualifications, and education.
  • The role includes performance-based annual profit sharing and RRSP matching up to 5%.

Design and Evaluation

  • Perform preliminary and detailed design for new bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.
  • Design rehabilitation solutions for existing bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.
  • Conduct and oversee inspections of existing bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.
  • Prepare contract specifications and structural reports.
  • Analyze and design bridge demolition and construction engineering solutions.

Project Delivery and Coordination

  • Check work prepared by others in detail.
  • Prepare sketches for CAD technicians.
  • Supervise bridge CAD technicians in producing drawings and project deliverables.
  • Review construction submittals and requests for information.
  • Liaise with contractors and owners during design and construction.
  • Complete construction site inspections.

Team Leadership

  • Mentor and supervise junior and intermediate bridge team members.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary coordination and cooperation in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Required Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university is required.
  • At least 10 years of experience in bridge design, rehabilitation, and/or bridge construction engineering is required.
  • A Professional Engineer license in the province of employment is required.
  • Experience with concrete and steel bridge analysis and design is required.
  • Knowledge of CHBDC (CAN/CSA-S6) and applicable local standards, practices, policies, and procedures is required.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software and AutoCAD is required.

Additional Qualifications

  • A post-graduate degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is an asset.
  • Knowledge or interest related to embodied carbon is an asset.
  • Strong communication, coordination, cooperation, and collaboration capabilities are expected.
