Role Overview

DDN is seeking a Senior SDET for its Scale-Out Storage Engineering team.

The role combines software development and testing for distributed systems, storage platforms, filesystems and high-performance data platforms.

The position builds automation frameworks and test infrastructure across the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain Python and PyTest automation frameworks.
  • Develop functional, integration, regression, performance, scalability and reliability tests.
  • Execute fault-injection, failover, recovery and chaos testing scenarios.
  • Automate cluster deployment, upgrades, rolling updates and disaster recovery workflows.
  • Identify, reproduce and resolve complex product issues with developers.
  • Perform white-box testing of architecture, designs and code changes.
  • Build tools to improve test efficiency, coverage, reporting and quality metrics.
  • Analyze behavior under node failures, network disruptions, disk failures and workload stress.
  • Integrate test automation with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Drive quality initiatives and engineering productivity through automation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in Software QA, Test Automation or SDET roles.
  • Strong Python programming skills and extensive hands-on PyTest experience.
  • Experience building and maintaining large-scale automation frameworks.
  • Strong Linux system administration and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience testing distributed systems and enterprise storage products.
  • Understanding of scale-out storage architectures and file, block or object storage.
  • Understanding of data replication and erasure coding.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines and test automation infrastructure.

Technical Skills

  • Python, PyTest, Bash shell scripting and Git.
  • Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
  • Docker.
  • Monitoring and observability tools.

Success Criteria

Own quality initiatives for major storage features.

Build scalable frameworks that reduce manual testing effort.

Improve regression coverage and release confidence.

Drive performance, reliability and scalability validation of distributed storage systems.

Collaborate effectively with development teams to deliver high-quality enterprise storage software.
