Role Overview
Develop new capabilities for Mastercard’s Decision Management Platform within the Operations and Technology Fraud Products team.
The Java-based platform processes billions of transactions per month using a high-performance, highly available, multi-tiered, message-oriented architecture.
The role focuses on fraud prevention, cardholder identity validation, and complex high-scale business problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality software solutions through hands-on development.
- Collaborate with technical leads on design and implementation.
- Provide production support as a subject matter expert to resolve incidents and problem tickets.
- Plan, design, and develop technical solutions aligned with Mastercard standards and best practices.
- Lead system development and maintenance activities to meet service-level agreements.
SDLC Ownership
- Own requirements and use cases, technical design and documentation, test strategy and design, performance benchmarking, and release and rollback plans.
- Conduct feasibility studies, cost and time analysis, and estimations.
- Participate in proofs of concept and support vendor and technology selection.
- Ensure test coverage across unit, system or integration, and performance testing.
- Conduct requirements, design, code, and security reviews.
Team Development
- Conduct brown bag sessions and provide technical training to team members.
- Mentor and guide team members across all software development lifecycle phases.
- Continuously improve standards and process efficiency.
Core Competencies
- Work independently under pressure with initiative, self-motivation, attention to detail, and a results-oriented approach.
- Communicate effectively and collaborate within a matrix-based, geographically distributed Agile team.
- Understand Agile software development methodologies and complex multi-tier application design.
Essential Technical Skills
- Develop and debug J2EE RESTful web services and web applications.
- Use Oracle and SQL scripting for database development.
- Use Spring Framework, including Spring Boot.
- Use Maven for build and dependency management.
- Use JUnit and Mockito for unit testing.
- Use JBoss or Apache Tomcat application servers and Git version control.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with containerized environments such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Cloud Foundry is desirable.
- Experience with Apache Camel, Spring Integration, service performance monitoring, or frontend frameworks is desirable.
- Knowledge of HTML5, ES5 or ES6, TypeScript, SASS, and CSS3 is desirable.
