About the role
The team is seeking a Senior Frontend Software Engineer to build modern web applications used by researchers worldwide.
The role contributes to ScienceDirect, Elsevier's flagship scientific information product.
The engineering organization is adopting AI-assisted development practices.
Key responsibilities
- Develop responsive web applications in a collaborative, cross-functional agile team.
- Build interactive user interfaces with React and translate UX/UI designs into functional applications.
- Optimize applications for performance, accessibility, and cross-browser responsiveness.
- Use AI tools for design, implementation, refactoring, debugging, testing, documentation, and code review support.
- Critically evaluate AI-generated output and help evolve AI-supported engineering workflows.
- Write tested, documented, peer-reviewed code and contribute to engineering best practices.
- Work with Product Managers and QA to meet user and business requirements.
- Support team growth through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and recruitment participation.
Core engineering requirements
- Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
