RBC Capital Markets is building an internal analytics platform for institutional equities.
The platform provides real-time desk flow monitoring, research and sentiment analysis, AI-powered insights, and market intelligence.
The Senior Fullstack Engineer will build core features across frontend, backend data services, and AI integration layers.
The work directly supports sales traders, portfolio managers, analysts, quants, and product teams.
Responsibilities
- Build end-to-end features across Next.js, Node.js/Express, and Python/FastAPI services.
- Design real-time flows using WebSockets, Kafka consumers, and server-sent AI responses.
- Develop data-dense dashboards, charts, grids, drag-and-drop layouts, and a conversational AI assistant.
- Maintain shared packages and build pipelines within the Turborepo monorepo.
- Integrate KDB+/Q, time-series data pipelines, and enterprise messaging.
- Build the authenticated backend-for-frontend proxy layer and route requests to Node.js and Python services.
- Implement Redis caching, rate limiting, RTK Query cache tags, and optimistic updates.
- Develop RAG, prompt-driven, and streamed AI/LLM features.
- Support Kubernetes deployments, Helm charts, autoscaling, reverse proxy routing, and observability.
- Translate institutional trading desk workflows into high-impact platform features.
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience with significant full-stack development experience.
- Expert-level TypeScript proficiency in large, strictly typed codebases.
- Deep React and Next.js experience, including App Router, Server Components, middleware, API routes, and SSR/ISR.
- Strong Node.js, Express, REST API, middleware, and asynchronous data pipeline experience.
- Experience with Redux Toolkit and RTK Query for application state management at scale.
- Experience designing real-time systems with WebSockets, Socket.IO, Server-Sent Events, or similar technologies.
- Proficiency with MongoDB, Mongoose, Redis, secure authentication, and authorization systems.
- Hands-on experience with Turborepo, Nx, or Lerna monorepo tooling.
- Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes deployments using Helm charts.
- Strong communication skills for explaining technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Capital markets or financial services experience, including equities trading workflows, order flow, and desk structures.
- Python/FastAPI experience supporting AI or machine learning service layers.
- KDB+/Q or time-series database experience with real-time and historical market data.
- AI/LLM integration experience with RAG, prompt engineering, streaming inference, Claude, or GPT.
- Financial charting and visualization experience with Highcharts, D3, or similar tools.
- Observability experience with ELK, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Messaging experience with Kafka, Solace, or similar event-driven systems.
