The Data Platform team centralizes internal and third-party data for analytics, machine learning, and end-user experiences.
The engineer will build SDKs, self-service applications, and abstractions used by analysts, data scientists, and data engineers.
The role spans foundational processing and storage, scalable pipelines, frameworks, tools, and internal applications.
Responsibilities
- Build clean software abstractions and modular, reusable components that support thousands of pipelines.
- Build and maintain data integration and processing SDKs for data teams and internal services.
- Design self-service applications for creating, managing, and troubleshooting pipelines.
- Build tooling for data security, access controls, observability, data quality, cataloging, lineage, and usage auditing.
- Consult upstream teams on database structures and data APIs.
- Provide downstream data scientists with documented data models and metrics.
- Convert requests from analysts, machine learning, and security and compliance teams into scalable patterns.
Required skills and experience
- At least 7 years of experience.
- Strong Python or Java backend development skills.
- Fluent SQL for ETL/ELT, data quality, and analysis.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or a similar platform.
- Experience working with data systems or data pipelines.
- Working knowledge of Git, Linux, and Docker.
- Experience with Airflow, business intelligence, and AI tools.
Compensation
- Annual base salary ranges from $186,065 to $218,900 USD, excluding equity and bonus.
- Total compensation may also include equity, bonus eligibility, and benefits.
Workplace
- The role is remote and based in the USA.
- Coinbase is remote-first but not remote-only, with quarterly in-person working sessions called surges.
