Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

Core Technology Stack

• AWS is the cloud provider, with Oracle as the legacy data warehouse and Snowflake as the next-generation data warehouse.
• Mage AI supports data ingestion and processing, Terraform supports infrastructure, and Python is the primary development language.
• Java and Groovy are used within the legacy platform.

Platform and Migration

• Build reliable and scalable pipelines and platform capabilities and monitor and support them.
• Construct architectures connecting services, SaaS tools, and third-party data across a cloud-based stack.
• Drive client migration from the legacy Java, Groovy, and Oracle stack to the modern platform.
• Define migration patterns, manage risk, and ensure continuity.

Technical Leadership and Quality

• Contribute to technical strategy through prioritization and delivery management.
• Set standards for documentation, testing, resiliency, monitoring, and code quality.
• Improve efficiency, reduce cloud spend, address technical debt, and simplify code, infrastructure, and data models.
• Guide team members, lead design sessions, participate in code reviews, and own operational processes.
• Promote data quality, governance, security, and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications

• At least 6 years of relevant professional experience in Software Engineering or Data Engineering.
• Experience shaping a mature cloud data platform for different consumer types and measurable business value.
• High proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Experience building resilient batch and streaming pipelines at scale above 1 TB per day.
• Experience designing scalable data models in a cloud data warehouse and working with legacy ecosystems.
• Experience with data and code migrations, proofs of concept, and roadmap planning.
• Ability to maintain infrastructure with infrastructure as code, containerization, and CI/CD.
• Proficiency in Linux administration, Bash scripting, job scheduling, observability, alerting, and incident management.
• Strong communication and collaboration across technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred or Additional Experience

• Working experience with Java or Groovy, particularly for legacy migration or maintenance.
• Experience with coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cortex, or Cursor.
• Experimentation with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
• Experimentation with LLM frameworks such as LangChain.

Location and Travel

• The ideal candidate is expected to work from the office at least three days per week.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Compensation

• The salary range will be determined based on experience, skills, and geographic location.
