Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Python (Django/FastAPI) and/or Node.js.
• Architect scalable, fault-tolerant backend systems capable of handling high-throughput, low-latency workloads.
• Build and manage event-driven architectures using Kafka for real-time data processing and inter-service communication.
• Design and optimize data models across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra, choosing the right data store for the right use case.
• Implement caching strategies using Redis to improve system performance and reduce latency.
• Containerize applications using Docker and manage deployments on Kubernetes in collaboration with the DevOps team.
• Contribute to and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth, automated, and reliable deployments.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code following engineering best practices and design patterns.
• Participate in system design discussions, code reviews, and architectural decision-making.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring high availability and reliability of services.
• Mentor junior engineers and help raise the technical bar across the team.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, QA, and DevOps to deliver features end-to-end.

Required Skills and Experience

• 7-10 years of experience in backend/software engineering roles.
• Strong proficiency in Python, with hands-on experience in Django and/or FastAPI; experience with Node.js is a plus.
• Proven experience designing and building REST APIs and microservices architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar message brokers/event streaming platforms.
• Solid understanding of both relational and NoSQL databases - PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
• Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or similar).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts - scalability, consistency, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.
• Good grasp of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
