Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership, contract administration, technical expertise, and accountability for the successful delivery of large and complex construction projects, as well as multiple smaller projects.
- Be accountable for overall project performance, including safety, quality, schedule, budget, and profitability, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Own project financial performance, including cost control, forecasting, billing, collections, change management, and profitability.
- Identify, assess, price, negotiate, and manage change orders, extras, claims, delays, and potential disputes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review project scopes, specifications, and contract requirements to identify scope gaps, exclusions, risks, and opportunities prior to contract award.
- Perform ongoing risk management, forecasting, and financial analysis to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions proactively.
- Manage relationships with clients, client representatives, consultants, trade contractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure effective communication and successful project delivery.
- Oversee and coordinate internal resources, subcontractors, and third-party vendors to support the execution of complex projects and achieve project objectives.
- Monitor production and review the performance of assigned resources to ensure time, cost, quality, and productivity objectives are achieved.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing management of project-specific safety plans and requirements.
- Establish and maintain effective project procedures, document control, reporting, and administrative processes.
- Provide leadership and insight in support of corporate objectives, operational initiatives, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain ongoing professional development to remain current with emerging technologies, industry practices, construction methods, and regulatory requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Profile Requirements
- Experience, Skills & Competencies
- Minimum 6+ years’ experience within the construction industry as Project Manager or equivalent;
- Post Secondary degree or diploma in engineering or a construction related field is considered an asset;
- Experience within the hazardous material industry considered an asset;
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of safety principles, procedures, and legislation;
- Ability to problem solve and exercise professional judgment;
- Demonstrated experience in leading effective project meetings with customers, consultants, and internal employees;
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing team members;
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other operational systems as required;
- Project management accreditations considered an asset: such as GSC, PMP, PMI
- Must be able to obtain security clearance
- Must have valid driver’s license
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
- Physical Requirements:
- Dynamic Work Setting: Offers a mix of field and office environments; involves approximately 50% field work and 50% office work.
- Physical Capability : Must be physically capable of navigating job sites. Also, must be fit and able to wear respiratory protection equipment, including various types of full and half face respirators.
- Driver's License: Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain Secret Level Security Clearance.
- Hazardous Materials: Required to enter and examine active abatement areas containing Asbestos, Lead, Silica, Mold, etc.
