The role

A senior member of RED’s Programme Management team, this individual will be seconded from the University of Bristol to the Chief Operating Officer role, within Bristol Health Partners Academic Health Science Centre (BHP AHSC). This is a strategic collaboration between the city region's universities, major health and care providers and commissioners, covering the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire area. The Partnership works to improve the health of those who live in and around Bristol and to improve the delivery of the services on which they rely, acting as a mechanism for change in our health and care community.

What will you be doing?

This role operates at the interface of academia, NHS, Local Authority, health and care commissioners, the voluntary sector, government and administration – typically at a high level – and must manage relations across and within these environments. You must have experience of managing teams and organisational operations such as budgets and effective governance policies and procedures.

You should apply if

You are a pro-active and strategically-minded individual with extensive knowledge of the health and care sector. You will have strong leadership skills in order to support and drive forward the BHP AHSC programme. A good understanding of NHS, social care, policy, voluntary sector and academic cultures and environments is essential, as are strong project and programme management skills, experience of research and its management and/or commercial exploitation, and good collaborative relationship-building skills. The successful individual will be highly motivated and must be capable of working fully independently as well as part of a team.
