Position Overview

REXEL is hiring a Senior Product Specialist for the Mayer team in Richmond, Virginia.

The role supports outside sales, grows sales, promotes company products, and provides product knowledge and customer guidance.

The position provides mentorship to junior team members.

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain deep knowledge of product features, benefits, competitive advantages, industry trends, and market dynamics.
  • Identify sales opportunities through phone, email, and in-person outreach.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and presentations.
  • Lead sales efforts for key targets, customers, and opportunities in assigned products or regions.
  • Build customer relationships, recommend suitable products, and resolve inquiries and objections.
  • Present proposals to leadership and technical audiences.
  • Maintain supplier relationships and participate in product meetings, seminars, and training schools.
  • Provide product, technical, and training support to branches and customers.
  • Analyze market potential and develop annual business plans when required.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of sales experience is required.
  • Electrical distribution industry or related experience is required.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A four-year or bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Product and application knowledge is required.
  • Intermediate or advanced skills with Excel, Outlook, and Word are required.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, interpersonal, organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills are required.

Work Environment

  • The role involves occasional travel to offsite locations.
  • The role primarily involves computer-based work and communication with customers, coworkers, and sales staff.
