About the Role

  • Gamed is a social gaming platform where players discover games, track progress, connect with others, and express their identity through gameplay.
  • We are looking for a Product Designer specialising in Systems & Mechanics to own the experience design of the core platform loops, game discovery flows, and social engagement systems.

Who You Are

  • Systems Oriented Designer: You think in flows, loops, and states — not just screens.
  • Game Literate: You understand core game design concepts — progression, feedback loops, reward systems, metagames.
  • Execution Focused: You are comfortable owning features end to end.
  • Collaborative Builder: You work well with product managers, engineers, and data analysts.
  • Data Informed: You make design decisions grounded in user research, product metrics, and behavioural insight.

Responsibilities

  • Design and iterate on the core loops of the Gamed platform — discovery, progression, social interaction, and identity expression.
  • Define the rules and logic behind engagement systems — XP, rewards, achievements, social graphs, and personalisation.
  • Create detailed wireframes, flows, and high fidelity prototypes.
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and competitive analysis.
  • Work closely with product, engineering, and data teams throughout the design and delivery process.
  • Contribute to and maintain the Gamed design system.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of product design experience, ideally in gaming, social platforms, or consumer apps.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating systems thinking, UX depth, and visual design quality.
  • Proficiency in Figma (components, auto layout, prototyping, variables).
  • Understanding of game design concepts: progression systems, feedback loops, engagement mechanics.
  • Experience designing for mobile first or cross platform products.
  • Ability to work with data and apply quantitative and qualitative insight to design decisions.
  • Strong communication skills — ability to present and justify design decisions clearly.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering teams and working within technical constraints.
  • English level: Upper Intermediate (B2+) or higher.
  • Experience with motion design or interaction microdetails is a plus.
  • Background in gaming (as a player or designer) is a strong plus.

  • Behavioural Design: How engagement loops, variable reward schedules, and social mechanics drive retention and habit formation.
  • Platform Thinking: How to design systems and experiences that serve both individual users and the broader network.
  • AI Augmented Design: How AI tools are integrated into the design process across research, ideation, and personalisation.

How We Work

  • Async first, but human: We default to written communication but know when a short call saves time.
  • Short cycles, real feedback: We work in 2 week sprints. Designs go to users fast.
  • Design has a seat at the table: Designers are involved from the earliest stages of product thinking.
  • No design by committee: We debate, then we decide.

Your First 90 Days

  • Days 1–30: Orientation: Get deep context on Gamed, review existing designs, shadow the team, complete one small design task.
  • Days 31–60: Contribution: Take ownership of a live feature or system, run user research, identify gaps.
  • Days 61–90: Ownership: Lead design on a meaningful product initiative, establish working rhythm, contribute to design system.

Interview Process

  • Step 1: Intro Call (30 minutes)
  • Step 2: Portfolio Review (60 minutes)
  • Step 3: Design Exercise (3 4 hours take home)
  • Step 4: Final Interview (60 90 minutes)
