The Platform Engineering team provides foundational services and developer tools for League's pod-based engineering organization.
Position summary
The Senior or Staff Backend Software Engineer owns complex backend platform problems from service architecture through production reliability.
Senior ownership centers on the engineer's services and team, while Staff ownership extends across pods and platform-wide standards.
The role partners with Platform Engineering leadership, Product, and cross-functional stakeholders as League scales.
Engineering responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and internal developer tooling using Go, Kubernetes, MongoDB, and GCP.
- Lead technical design and planning, including authoring and reviewing architecture decision records.
- Contribute across services, data, infrastructure, web, and mobile codebases when needed to deliver pod outcomes.
- Maintain quality through code review, automated testing, performance monitoring, and engineering best practices.
